The definition of soap is, “a substance used with water for washing and cleaning, made of a compound of natural oils or fats with sodium hydroxide or another strong alkali, and typically having perfume and coloring added.” Did you know commercial “soaps” really are not soaps at all? It’s true. They are actually detergents. Detergents strip your skin of their natural oils, which ends up drying out your skin. Commercial soaps are mass produced with a lot of synthetic ingredients and harsh chemicals. This in turn ends up irritating your skin. Even those labeled as being for sensitive skin are still detergents. From the first time you bathe with these soaps, you will feel a difference. Your skin will thank you!
Let’s explore the remarkable array of beneficial additives in this soap!
Pine Tar: Pine tar is often recognized for its natural properties that can support skin health. It is believed to have soothing qualities that may help calm irritated skin and promote a balanced appearance. Additionally, its rich, viscous texture can contribute to a creamy lather in soap, enhancing the overall cleansing experience.
Ground Oats: Ground oats are celebrated for their gentle exfoliating abilities. They can help remove dead skin cells, promoting a smoother texture while providing hydration. Oats are also known for their soothing properties, making them ideal for sensitive skin.
Pumice Powder: Pumice powder serves as a natural exfoliant that can help to slough away rough skin without being overly abrasive. This gentle polishing action can leave the skin feeling revitalized and smooth, making it a great addition to soaps designed for regular use.
Activated Charcoal: Activated charcoal is valued for its ability to absorb impurities and excess oil. It can aid in cleansing the skin, helping to create a fresh and clean feeling. Its porous nature allows it to draw out unwanted elements, making it a popular ingredient in many skincare formulations.
Handmade Soap Care
🧼Always store bars in dry, airy space. Keep soap on an elevated soap dish. This will avoid the soap staying wet and thus decreasing its lifespan.
🫧Use of a soap bag to generate lather also helps increase the longevity of the soap. Avoid fully immersing soap in water.
🧼Tip: Keep soap in bag until enough bubbles are on the soap bag, then you can remove soap and wash with the bag only.
If you use the above tips, each bar of soap can last you a month or longer.
